IntroductionThank you for contacting Schnauzer Love Rescue, Inc. (SLR) to become either a foster or a transporter. SLR believes that fostering dogs and providing transportation for them during the adoption process are two of the most vital roles in our organization. Simply put, the number of volunteers we have in these roles directly determines how many dogs we can save. Fostering has two major components. The first is to allow a rescued dog to live in a loving home environment while awaiting adoption. Being in a home is obviously a lot less stressful than a boarding facility and the additional exposure the dog gets from being treated as part of a family often speeds any physical or emotional healing they might need. The second is to give the foster time to work with the dogs in their care and get to know them so that the best possible permanent placement can be made for them. By becoming a foster, you will be giving dogs that might not otherwise get a second chance at life the experience of knowing love and compassion on their journey to finding their forever homes. If you plan to foster a dog with the goal of adopting them, please complete an Adoption Application Form. The seven state geographical area that SLR services is obviously very large so the volunteers who provide transportation services for our dogs during the adoption process are very important to us. Transporters can be called on to either pick up dogs where they are being surrendered and deliver them to their new fosters, take them from the care of one foster to another foster, or take them from their foster to their adopting family. These trips sometimes take more than a day to accomplish and during that time the dog stays in the transporter’s home. To become an SLR Foster or Transporter you must also submit the Volunteer Waiver and Release of Liability Form. It is important that all of the questions on this form be answered as completely and as accurately as possible. Thank you again for contacting SLR.InstructionsInstructions for Foster Applicant Fill out the information in Sections 1 through 7 as you completely as you can. Mandatory fields are marked.
